We got a tour of the station in the morning so we got to see much more of the place. We had a bit of a chat about the sheering process as well as a little bit of a demonstration about how they do it. We also got to see the sheep dogs bring the sheep in from the far side of the pasture. It was quite incredible to see! It required a large amount of teamwork as each dog has a different role in the process. Our guide also informed us that a couple of scenes from the movie Narnia were filmed on the property and nearby. Also in the general vicinity (and all over New Zealand) you can find landscapes found in the Lord of the Rings. It was cool when we would be somewhere and our guide could tell us exactly what part of the movie was filmed there.

After our tour in the morning we hopped back on the coach and departed for Christchurch again. This was the end of the tour for some folks, but thankfully not for me! I still had so many adventures coming! We wandered around the city a bit again, but most of us had already seen the very little there is to see there. It really is a quiet, quite boring city. We thankfully got to stay in a much nicer accommodation than the one they put us up in before we actually started the tour. All of the accommodations on the tour were much nicer than I had expected them to be. We stayed in hotels, motels, holiday parks and lodges. It was quite the variety of accommodation, and I was pleasantly surprised at each one.
Sunday November 22
We woke up bright and early as usual and began to drive towards our first destination, Kaikoura. I had planned to swim with New Zealand fur seals that day but unfortunately due to the weather it was cancelled. Because you swim with them amongst the rocks it has to be a pretty calm day and today was not that. Instead I just hung out around the town with the other people on the tour. We found the most delicious fish and chips stand and it was only $5 for SO much food! It was wonderful! We wandered around town for a bit, did a small amount of shopping and then went for a peninsula walk. Our guide had made it sound like it was going to be a nice leisurely stroll and next thing we knew we were climbing a very steep hill. It was neat through because we only had to climb it once and the rest of the walk continued from the top of the hill. The views over the ocean and the town were spectacular! In typical fashion, once we finished that we got back on the bus and drove to our location for the night, Nelson. It is quite the little town really but we found a cute little Mexican restaurant to eat at. At first I was hesitant as the Mexican in this part of the world is usually rubbish but this place was delicious! I was really happy that we stumbled upon it. Our room in Nelson was amazing! We had a sauna, and a massive jacuzzi! It was quite a large room as well. We got lucky somehow; as most people said there rooms were nothing special here.
